Coal

Coal, Coke and Anthracite

Coal, a fossil fuel created from the decays of plants that lived about 100 to 400 million years ago when parts of the Earth were covered with huge swampy forests. Coal is composed primarily of carbon along with variable quantities of other elements, mainly hydrogen, sulphur, oxygen, and nitrogen.

Coal is classified into four main types, depending on the amount of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen present. The higher the carbon content, the more energy the coal contains.

  • ·         Lignite: It is the lowest rank of coal and is mainly used to produce electricity.
  • ·         Sub-bituminous: This typically contains less heating value than bituminous coal and more moisture. Bituminous coal was formed by added heat and pressure on lignite. Made of many tiny layers, bituminous coal looks smooth and sometimes shiny. It has two to three times the heating value of lignite.
  • ·         Bituminous: Bituminous coal is used to generate electricity and is an important fuel for the steel and iron industries.
  • ·        Anthracite: It is deep black and looks almost metallic due to its glossy surface. Like bituminous coal, anthracite coal is a big energy producer. It contains 86% to 97% carbon.

Currently we are working on Indonesian, Australian, SA, & Russian coal for the buyers in India, China, Korea, & Japan.
